HRi volunteered with Hospice of the Chesapeake at the 4th Annual Annapolis Irish Festival on July 11th and 12th. 

We had some great conversations and heard some heartwarming stories from people visiting the Hospice of the Chesapeake information tent and collected over $250 in donations! Working the beer ticket sales tent was also quite a lot of fun.

The event was a huge success and it wouldn't have been so without the support of all of our volunteers - thank you to everyone who participated and we hope to have another wonderful turnout next year.

Congratulations to Ben Hahn, Esq. of Hahn Law, LLC! For the third year in a row, he has been selected as a "Washington, DC Super Lawyer" in the Employment & Labor category.

For over 10 years, Mr. Hahn has counseled HRi on complex, legal employment and workplace issues. He has provided us with much appreciated guidance from single-issue contract matters and employment discrimination to unfair competition and employment contract matters.

On March 20, our Marketing & Communications Manager, Rachael Osberger, participated in a panel discussion focused on helping Renal Fellows understand the job search and interview process. This panel was part of the Renal Physicians Association's 2014 Fellows Workshop which offered useful and valuable information from selected experts to aid in making a smooth transition from training into practice.

"It was daunting speaking in front of a room of doctors, but I quickly realized that they are in the same boat as everyone else. Fellows need advice on how to look for a job, interview, and negotiate a contract in this competitive job market as other job seekers do.

I appreciate the opportunity and invitation from the RPA to speak. Hopefully I was able to help the Fellows start their search."

HRi has recently sponsored Hospice Hundred's 2014 Fashion for a Cause event!

In 2011, Hospice of the Chesapeake expanded it's mission to care for children and adolescents who are living with advanced illness as well as support for their families dealing with the illness through a new program, Chesapeake Kids. Funds raised by Hospice Hundred directly support Chesapeake Kids. Whether the needs are medical, psych-social or grief counseling, Hospice of the Chesapeake is committed to supporting children throughout their journey with illness and grief. Chesapeake Kids provides pediatric hospice, perinatal and infant loss support, grief camps, and monthly support progams.

HRi is honored to support Hospice Hundred, Hospice of the Chesapeake and help to expand the Chesapeake Kids program to serve every child in need of care, support and comfort. 

The third annual Division of Labor and Industry's (DLI) Employment Rights & Safety Forum was held on March 19, 2014 at Towson University. The Forum has a history of providing Maryland's workforce with all of the must-knows in compliance, safety, and employment law regulations. This annual event includes dynamic sessions lead by DLI staff and other industry professionals.

As the HRi representative at the Forum, Business Development Manager, Michael Leaf noted that "over two hundred attendees visited our exhibit and as the only outsourcing company in attendance, it created a unique platform to discuss our services.

It really was an interesting day. I spoke with a number of exceptional people – in particular, Erwin A. Burtnick, COL, USA (Ret.) who volunteers with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve in support of USERRA compliance and Jeff Trice from the DLLR Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning who invited us to discuss HR-related items during their quarterly meetings."
